NEAR Holds Near $5.25 After August Rally
Near Protocol’s NEAR token is trading around $5.25, still near the top of a move that began in August. The price climbed from below $2 to above $5, and the main trend on the daily chart remains up. Buyers have defended dips, including a sharp drop to about $4.30 that was quickly bought back.
But there is a catch. NEAR has reached the same price zone several times without closing above it. That repeated failure has made traders cautious, even as the broader structure looks positive.
The $5.30 to $5.60 Zone Is the Main Test
The area between $5.30 and $5.60 is the level to watch. Price touched about $5.56 in late September and about $5.65 in early October. Both times, sellers stepped in and pushed it lower. Each rejection added weight to the resistance, which is why some market watchers now describe it as unbreakable. I think that label is a bit strong, but the zone clearly matters.
Volume has been lighter in recent sessions. That suggests the market is waiting for a clear signal rather than making a decisive bet.
Breakout Case: A Daily Close Above $5.65
If NEAR closes a full day above $5.65 with strong volume, the ceiling would be broken. The next targets would likely sit near $6.00, followed by the round $6.50 level. A bounce from the $5.00 area would support this view.
Volume should expand on the breakout day and hold up on any retest. That would show buyers are willing to defend the new level instead of treating it as a quick spike.
Rejection Case: Failure at Resistance Could Send Price Lower
If price fails again between $5.30 and $5.60, a pullback becomes more likely. The first support is near $4.90. Below that, the recent sell-off stopped near $4.45. If $4.45 breaks, the bullish setup weakens and a test of $4.00 could follow.
A close below $4.90 would be an early warning that the pullback is deepening. It helps to decide in advance how far price can move before changing your view.
For now, the daily close is the cleanest signal. A close above $5.65 would turn the chart strongly bullish. A close below $4.90 would flash caution. Until NEAR holds above the top of this range, the safer view is that it remains stuck between these levels.
