Polymarket traders now see a 20% chance that the U.S. government will confirm alien life this year. The odds have climbed following reports of secret meetings between church pastors and intelligence officials. Some people think these gatherings are meant to prepare for a public disclosure event.
Prediction Markets Show Rising Confidence
On Polymarket, traders currently estimate a 20% probability that the U.S. government will confirm extraterrestrial life in 2026. This bet gained momentum after President Trump said the Pentagon would release “very interesting” files about Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). Another prediction market, Kalshi, puts the odds slightly higher at 22.5% for this year.
Trump made his comments on May 4. “We’re going to be releasing a lot of things that we haven’t. I think some of it’s going to be very interesting to people,” he said. Kash Patel, the FBI director, later stated that the UAP files have already been delivered for release.
Religious Leaders Involved in Talks
What makes this story stranger is the involvement of religious figures. According to three different pastors, about half a dozen religious leaders met with intelligence officials to discuss how the church should respond if alien life is confirmed. Tony Merkel, an American evangelist and podcaster, said these officials were “Christians in intelligence operations” who were gathering evidence on what is happening behind the scenes in the disclosure community.
Not everyone is convinced, though. Former President Barack Obama recently dismissed the idea of a government cover-up. “If there were aliens or alien spaceships or anything under the control of the United States government that we knew about, seen, photographs, what have you … I promise you some guy guarding the installation would have taken a selfie with one of the aliens and sent it to his girlfriend to impress her,” Obama said.
It is unclear how much of this speculation is real or just noise. But the prediction markets are reflecting what many people seem to believe: that 2026 might be the year everything changes.
