Spot XRP exchange-traded funds were the only major crypto fund category to pull in fresh money on September 8. Every other large product group, from Bitcoin to Ethereum to Solana and Hyperliquid, finished the day in the red.
The numbers are small in absolute terms but the contrast is hard to miss.
XRP Takes the Only Positive Print
Net inflows into XRP spot products came to roughly $1.55 million, according to the latest ETF flow data. That figure would barely register on a normal day in a market the size of Bitcoin. On this particular day, it was enough to top the leaderboard.
Bitcoin ETFs snapped a three-day inflow streak with $46.65 million in net outflows. Ethereum spot funds shed $24.29 million. Hyperliquid products saw $12.96 million leave, and Solana recorded a smaller $667,720 withdrawal. Five categories, four of them negative, and XRP standing alone in positive territory.
The Longer View Still Favors Bitcoin by a Wide Margin
Zoom out and the picture looks different. Five US spot XRP ETFs hold about $1.51 billion in net assets, with cumulative net inflows near $1.69 billion. Over the past 30 days alone, XRP products brought in around $173 million, which is a meaningful run for a category that did not exist long ago.
Bitcoin’s total ETF inflows sit at roughly $55.59 billion. So one good session for XRP does not prove that institutional money is rotating out of BTC and into XRP. Not yet, anyway. A single day of flows is a thin reed to lean on.
Price Action Stays Rangebound
XRP is trading between $1.39 and $1.40 after its big August breakout, and it remains above its long-term moving average at $1.35. Buyers have so far prevented a full retrace toward pre-breakout levels, even though the initial rally has cooled. Whether that holds is an open question.
Bitcoin is consolidating near $79,000 following its rapid recovery, with ETF flows negative for the day. Hyperliquid is holding near its recent high of $86 despite the outflow. Solana sits around $104 after pushing toward $110.
What Would Confirm a Shift
The divergence becomes more interesting if XRP keeps drawing inflows while Bitcoin, Solana, and Hyperliquid products struggle to attract capital. That would suggest relatively stronger institutional demand for XRP rather than a one-off allocation.
For now, XRP won the daily flow comparison. Confirming an actual trend will take several more positive sessions, and the next few days should tell us whether this was a signal or just noise.
